Literacy Lift Off – Junior and Senior Infants

Published by:

Literacy Lift Off is an intensive literacy hour where children work in small groups with graded readers suited to their ability. Children read a new book every day and this book is then taken home to be read with parents. Junior and Senior Infants are now participating in the programme and it is proving very successful and enjoyable.

The older classes take part in a modified version of this programme called Small Group Literacy Instruction (SGLI). Similar principles apply and children experience a wide variety of texts at their level of proficiency. Ms Coloe’s and Mr O’Donnell’s  class are both working on this initiative at the moment.
